Fees use Etsy's published rates: $0.20 listing fee, 6.5% transaction fee on item + shipping, payment processing for your region, optional Offsite Ads (capped at $100 per order) and an optional regulatory operating fee. The listing fee and the Offsite Ads cap are set in USD by Etsy; for other currencies we use 0.20 and 100 in your currency as an approximation. Sales tax and VAT collected from buyers are not included. Check your Etsy payment account for the exact fees on real orders.

The calculator solves this in one step. It adds up your fixed amounts per order, then finds the price where your profit equals the margin you chose.
The margin is measured on what the buyer pays (item plus shipping), because that is the amount Etsy's transaction and processing fees apply to. If Offsite Ads would cost more than $100 on the order, the calculator switches to the fixed $100 cap and solves again.
| Fee | Rate |
|---|---|
| Listing fee | $0.20 per listing (renews each time a multi-quantity item sells) |
| Transaction fee | 6.5% of item price + shipping + gift wrap |
| Payment processing | US 3% + $0.25 (varies by region) |
| Offsite Ads | 15% or 12% of the order, capped at $100, only on sales from those ads |
| Regulatory operating fee | Some countries only, e.g. France 1.14% |
A classic handmade pricing formula goes: materials + labour = cost, cost × 2 = wholesale price, wholesale × 2 = retail price. It is a rule of thumb used by makers, not an Etsy rule. It leaves room for a shop to buy from you at wholesale and still make money, and it often lands well above a fee-based price. With $13.50 of materials and labour it gives a $27 wholesale price and a $54 retail price.
If you only sell on Etsy, the calculator above gives you a price based on your real fees and margin. If you plan to sell to shops too, we recommend checking that your Etsy price is at least twice your wholesale price, so retailers are not undercut by your own listing.
Prices ending in .99 or .95 are common on Etsy. The calculator rounds your exact price up to the ending you choose, never down, so the margin you see is always at or above your target. Try a couple of endings and keep the one that suits your shop.
Add your materials, labour, packaging and shipping label cost, choose a target margin, and divide by one minus Etsy's percentage fees and your margin. The calculator above does this for you, including the $0.20 listing fee, the 6.5% transaction fee and payment processing for your region.
We recommend aiming for 30% or more of what the buyer pays, after all fees and costs including your own time. A thinner margin leaves little room for discounts, returns or advertising.
Yes. Enter your minutes per item and an hourly rate. If you leave labour out, your profit is really your wage, and you cannot afford to outsource or grow without raising prices later.
Yes, if you select it. Offsite Ads cost 15% of the order for shops under $10,000 in sales over the last 365 days and 12% at or above that level, capped at $100 per order. Pricing with it included gives you a worst-case price that still meets your margin.
Etsy's percentage fees and your margin together cannot reach 100% of the price. With US payment processing, the transaction and processing fees take 9.5% of each order, so a margin of 90.5% or more can never be reached. Lower your target margin. With Offsite Ads included, very high margins are only reachable at high prices where the $100 cap applies.
