For most Etsy shops, the last ten weeks of the year are the busiest. Gift buyers start early, compare a lot and then all rush at once before the shipping cut-offs. The shops that do well are rarely the ones with the best last-minute idea. They are the ones whose listings, photos and shipping settings were ready when buyers started looking.
Here are the 2026 dates that matter, in order, with a simple plan for each. Day names have been checked for 2026; shipping dates come from USPS's recommended holiday deadlines.
The 2026 dates at a glance
| Date | Event | What it means for your shop |
|---|---|---|

| Thu, Nov 26 | Thanksgiving (US) | Table decor and hostess gifts; the start of the long weekend |
| Fri, Nov 27 | Black Friday | The biggest discount day; gift shoppers compare prices |
| Sat, Nov 28 | Small Business Saturday | Buyers look for independent makers: tell your story |
| Mon, Nov 30 | Cyber Monday | Last big online sale day; digital products do well |
| Fri, Dec 4 โ Sat, Dec 12 | Hanukkah (begins at sundown Dec 4) | Hanukkah gifts and decor must arrive before Dec 4 |
| Thu, Dec 17 | USPS Ground Advantage and First-Class Mail cut-off | Recommended last day to ship for delivery by Dec 25 (contiguous US) |
| Fri, Dec 18 | USPS Priority Mail cut-off | Recommended last day for Priority Mail |

| Fri, Dec 25 | Christmas | After the cut-offs, only digital and local items sell for Christmas |
| Thu, Dec 31 โ Fri, Jan 1 | New Year's Eve and Day | Party items, 2027 planners and calendars |
USPS dates are its recommendations for the contiguous United States; for Alaska and Hawaii, Ground Advantage is a day earlier (Dec 16). Check USPS's holiday page for international and military dates, and your own carrier if you use UPS or FedEx.
When to have listings live
New listings need time: Etsy has to show them, buyers have to find them, and the first sales and favorites help them climb. That's why our free seasonal calendar recommends having listings live about 60 days before Halloween and 60 to 75 days before Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Hanukkah and Christmas. For 2026, that gives:
- Halloween: by September 1.
- Black Friday and Cyber Monday: between mid-September and the end of September.
- Hanukkah: between September 20 and October 5.
- Christmas: between October 11 and October 26.
These are targets, not cliffs. If you are reading this in late October, Christmas is still the date to work on first, and listing this week is far better than listing in December.
Halloween: October 31
Halloween demand is concentrated and ends abruptly. By mid-October, buyers of made-to-order items worry about delivery, so make your processing time visible and realistic. Ready-to-ship items and digital downloads (party printables, invitations, costume patterns) keep selling until the last days.
On November 1, switch your Halloween listings off, or edit their photos and tags toward autumn if the item works beyond the holiday, and update holiday attributes so they don't point at a date that has passed.
Black Friday to Cyber Monday: November 27โ30
Four days, three different moods:
- Black Friday (Nov 27): shoppers compare prices. If you run a sale, set it up in advance in Shop Manager, decide your discount from your real margins (see the pricing guide), and make sure every discounted item still makes a profit after fees.
- Small Business Saturday (Nov 28): the day people choose independent sellers on purpose. Update your shop announcement and About section, and share the story behind your work on social media.
- Cyber Monday (Nov 30): online-only buyers, many looking for things they can get instantly: printables, templates, gift certificates and digital patterns fit well.
Not every shop has to discount. Bundles, gift sets, free gift wrap or a small gift with purchase can work as well, without training buyers to wait for sales.
Hanukkah: December 4โ12
In 2026 Hanukkah begins at sundown on Friday, December 4, three weeks before Christmas. Buyers who want gifts for the first night need them delivered by December 4, so their effective deadline is late November. If you make Hanukkah items, mention the arrival date in your listing and in your shop announcement.
Christmas: December 25
Christmas is the date that matters most for most shops, and its real deadline is not December 25, it's your last ship date. Work backwards:
- Take the USPS date for your service (Dec 17 for Ground Advantage, Dec 18 for Priority Mail).
- Subtract your processing time. If you need 5 business days to make an item, the last order you can accept for Christmas is around December 10.
- Write that "order by" date in your listing description and your shop announcement in plain words.
- After that date, update the wording so nobody orders expecting a Christmas delivery you can't make.
After the cut-offs, Christmas sales don't stop completely: digital downloads, printable gift certificates and "gift reveal" printables still sell, and so do local pickups if you offer them.
New Year and early January
December 26 is the start of a quieter but useful period: buyers spend gift money, look for 2027 planners and calendars, and plan for Valentine's Day (Sunday, February 14, 2027). The seasonal calendar tool suggests having Valentine's listings live about 45 days ahead, which means by the end of December.
A six-week checklist
- Six weeks before: list or refresh seasonal items, with all photos, 13 tags and holiday attributes.
- Five weeks before: check processing times and shipping profiles; order packaging and supplies.
- Four weeks before: plan sales or bundles for Black Friday; schedule them in Shop Manager.
- Three weeks before: update your shop announcement with order-by dates.
- Two weeks before: prepare messages for late buyers; keep stock counts accurate.
- Week of: answer messages quickly, ship on time, and switch seasonal attributes off afterwards.
For seasonal tags, think about how people search: "christmas gift for mom", "stocking stuffer", "teacher gift", "secret santa gift" describe the buyer's intent better than "christmas" alone. Our 13 tags guide shows how to mix them with your product phrases.
If you need many seasonal listings quickly, ListifyAI's Listing Generator drafts a title, 13 tags and a description from a product photo; you add the occasion in the notes and check every line before publishing. New accounts get 20 free credits.
