AI Shop Analysis: How to Optimize Your Etsy Shop in 30 Seconds

Stop guessing what's wrong with your shop. Our AI scans your entire product catalog and tells you exactly what to fix โ€” with real numbers from your data.

You've added 20 products to your Etsy shop. Some sell, most don't. You spend hours wondering: which ones need better photos? Which should I reprice? Which should I pause? Most sellers guess. And guessing is expensive.

We just launched a feature that removes the guessing entirely. It's called AI Shop Analysis, and it turns your raw shop data into a prioritized action list in under 30 seconds.

TL;DR: AI Shop Analysis looks at every product in your shop โ€” price, views, sales, stock, status โ€” and generates 4 to 5 specific, data-driven suggestions ranked by impact. Available on Starter plan and above, with a monthly quota per plan (1 on Starter, 3 on Pro, 5 on Business, 10 on Creator).

Why your "gut feeling" is usually wrong

Etsy dashboards show you what happened โ€” 1,240 views, 12 sales, $419 revenue. But they don't tell you what to do about it.

Here's a real example we see constantly:

  • A seller has a necklace with 1,240 views but only 12 sales (conversion rate under 1%).
  • Their gut says: "I need more traffic."
  • The reality: you already have the traffic. Your problem is conversion. The issue is probably your price, photos, or title โ€” not visibility.

AI Shop Analysis catches this instantly. It sees the conversion gap, flags the product, and suggests the actual fix.

What the AI actually analyzes

When you click "Analyze my shop", we send your product data to Claude Haiku (Anthropic's fast, specialized model) along with an expert-tuned prompt. The AI evaluates 7 dimensions for every listing:

  1. Pricing vs. engagement โ€” products with high views and fast sell-through that could be priced higher
  2. Conversion rate โ€” listings with lots of views but no sales (photos, title, or price problem)
  3. Stock risk โ€” best-sellers about to run out, costing you revenue
  4. Portfolio balance โ€” too many products in one category, not enough in another
  5. Inactive listings โ€” drafts or out-of-stock items silently hurting your visibility
  6. Seasonality signals โ€” products that underperform right now but might be seasonal
  7. Quick wins โ€” small changes with big impact (e.g., activating a draft)

Each suggestion comes with a priority level (high, medium, low) and a concrete next step. No fluff, no generic advice.

What the suggestions actually look like

Here's a snapshot of suggestions a real seller got after analyzing their 17-product shop:

๐Ÿ’ฐ Raise "Vintage Silver Necklace" from $34.99 to $39.99
This product has 1,240 views and 12 sales โ€” a strong conversion rate of 1%. It's your 2nd best seller, and the pricing is below comparable listings. A small increase of $5 would add an estimated $60/week with minimal conversion impact.
โ†’ Edit listing and update price
๐Ÿ“ธ "Boho Wall Tapestry" needs better photos
2,100 views but only 18 sales means visitors land on your listing but don't buy. The views-to-sales ratio suggests buyers aren't convinced by what they see. Try lifestyle shots showing the tapestry hung in a room.
โ†’ Use AI Photo Studio to generate 5 lifestyle versions
โš ๏ธ "Handmade Ceramic Mug" is about to run out (5 left)
This is your 3rd best seller at $24/unit. At current sales velocity (9/month), you'll be sold out within 17 days. Running out kills your listing's ranking โ€” reorder now to maintain momentum.
โ†’ Reorder from supplier this week

Three suggestions, three different impacts, all grounded in the seller's actual data. That's the difference between generic Etsy advice and your shop's advice.

How to get the best results

The more data the AI has, the better the suggestions. Here's how to get gold-tier insights:

1. Enter views, not just sales

Every product card lets you add a Views field. Pull this number from your Etsy Shop Stats weekly. Without views, the AI can't compute conversion rate โ€” which is where most actionable insights come from.

2. Keep stock numbers current

The Stock left field unlocks low-stock alerts and reorder suggestions. Set it when you add the product, update it after each restock. Leave empty for unlimited-stock items (digital products, print-on-demand).

3. Mark drafts and sold-out items honestly

Draft listings and out-of-stock items factor into portfolio suggestions. A shop with 12 actives and 8 drafts gets different advice than a shop with 20 actives.

4. Run the analysis weekly

Shop performance shifts weekly. Seasonal trends, new competitors, Etsy algorithm tweaks โ€” a lot changes in 7 days. Run the analysis every Monday to stay ahead.

What AI Shop Analysis can't do

We're big believers in honesty. Here's what this feature doesn't do:

  • It doesn't fetch live Etsy data. You enter the numbers manually. Automatic Etsy API integration requires a seller developer key and costs $99/month from Etsy โ€” not worth it for most sellers.
  • It doesn't predict the future. It analyzes your current state. Trends are suggested based on patterns in your data, not external market forecasts.
  • It doesn't replace human judgment. The AI surfaces what the data says. You still decide which suggestions to act on and when.

Monthly quota by plan

AI is expensive to run โ€” even with a fast model like Claude Haiku, each analysis calls Anthropic's API. So instead of pretending we can offer unlimited analyses on a $9.99 plan (we can't, not sustainably), we match the quota to what makes sense for each type of seller:

  • Starter ($9.99/mo) โ€” 1 analysis per month. Perfect if you audit your shop quarterly or when you feel stuck.
  • Pro ($19.99/mo) โ€” 3 analyses per month. Enough to run one deep dive every 10 days as you iterate on your listings.
  • Business ($49.99/mo) โ€” 5 analyses per month. About one per week โ€” ideal for active sellers who keep shipping new products.
  • Creator ($99.99/mo) โ€” 10 analyses per month. For power users, agencies managing multiple shops, and anyone running frequent A/B tests on pricing.

Quotas reset on the 1st of each calendar month. Unused analyses don't roll over (similar to how most monthly plans work). If you hit your limit, you can either upgrade instantly or wait for the reset.

How to unlock it

AI Shop Analysis is included on every paid plan (Starter and above). Free users see the button but clicking it opens the upgrade modal โ€” we don't want to show empty promises or half-cooked features.

To try it:

  1. Go to My Shop in your dashboard
  2. Add at least 2 products with their views and sales numbers
  3. Click the big purple โœจ Analyze my shop button
  4. Read your suggestions, prioritize the "high" ones, ship the fixes

That's the entire workflow. No setup, no prompts to write, no learning curve.

Stop guessing. Start optimizing.

Every hour you spend wondering what's wrong with your shop is an hour you're not fixing it. Let the AI do the wondering. You do the building.
