The 30-second answer

eRank is a keyword research and analytics tool. It tells you what keywords to use, how competitive they are, and how your listings are performing over time.

ListifyAI is a content generation toolkit. It takes one product photo and generates a complete, SEO-optimized listing — title, 13 tags, description — plus product photos and videos.

They solve different problems. The real question is: what's your bottleneck right now?

Choose eRank if...

  • You already have 50+ listings and want to optimize them
  • You need detailed keyword volume data
  • You want to track how your listings rank over time
  • You're comfortable writing your own content
  • Your bottleneck is "which keywords" not "writing time"

Choose ListifyAI if...

  • You're starting out and need to create listings fast
  • Writing titles, tags and descriptions takes you hours
  • You need product photos and videos, not just keywords
  • You're running multiple shops
  • You want copyright-protected content automatically

Can you use both?

Yes — and many successful Etsy sellers do. Use eRank to research which keywords to target. Use ListifyAI to actually write the listing, generate photos, and create videos around those keywords. Combined cost: ~$15-30/month for a complete Etsy content operation.

What candle buyers actually search for

Candle shoppers rarely type "candle" alone. They search by scent ("fig and cedar candle"), by wax ("soy candle", "coconut wax candle"), by vessel ("amber jar candle", "concrete candle"), and above all by occasion: "housewarming gift", "best friend gift", "sympathy candle". Your title and tags should cover at least one phrase from each of those groups.

Scent names you invent, like "Sunday Morning", mean nothing to a search engine. Keep the creative name in the description and lead the title with the actual notes a buyer would type.

The details every candle listing needs

Buyers cannot smell your candle, so the listing has to do the work. Before you publish, check that the listing answers these questions:

Avoid wellness claims such as "relieves anxiety" or "helps you sleep". Describe the mood ("calm, woody, cozy") instead of promising an effect.

Photos that sell a scent

Your first photo should show the candle lit, on a neutral surface, with the label readable. Then add a photo with a hand or a mug next to it for scale, a close-up of the wax surface and wick, a photo of the scent ingredients (orange slices, cinnamon sticks, lavender), the packaging, and the lid on and off. A short video of the flame is ideal for the listing video slot.

Seasonality: plan your listings early

Candles are one of the most seasonal categories on Etsy. Fall scents (pumpkin, apple, spice) and holiday scents (pine, fir, cranberry) should be listed and photographed well before the season starts so they have time to collect views. Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, teacher appreciation and wedding season are the other gift peaks. Swap seasonal terms into your tags as each window opens, and rotate them out afterward.

Common mistakes candle sellers make

Worked example: a soy candle listing

Title (99 characters): Fig and Cedar Soy Candle, 8 oz Amber Jar, Wood Wick Candle, Housewarming Gift, Cozy Fall Home Decor

13 tags:

  1. fig candle
  2. cedar candle
  3. soy candle
  4. wood wick candle
  5. amber jar candle
  6. housewarming gift
  7. fall candle
  8. woodsy scent
  9. cozy home decor
  10. gift for her
  11. new home gift
  12. hand poured candle
  13. scented candle gift

Notice the split: scent, wax, wick, vessel, occasion, recipient and season each get their own phrases, and no tag simply repeats the title word for word. For more ready-made combinations, browse the Etsy tags for candles list, then paste your final 13 into the Etsy Tag Analyzer to catch duplicates and tags over 20 characters. Quick answers

Should each candle scent be a separate Etsy listing?

If the scents share the same size, price and photo style, use one listing with a scent variation so reviews and sales build up in one place. Create separate listings when a scent has its own strong search demand, such as a seasonal scent, or when the size or gift set is different.

Can I call my candle a dupe of a famous brand scent on Etsy?

Using another company's brand or product names in your listing can infringe their trademark and get the listing removed. Describe the scent with its notes, such as warm vanilla, sandalwood and amber, instead.
